Billy C. Kurtz

Mr. Billy C. Kurtz, 74, of LaHarpe, Illinois passed away Thursday, July 10, 2008 at 3:15 A.M. at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa.
He was born December 25, 1933 in LaHarpe, the son of Joseph E. and Eula Head Kurtz. On June 14, 1959 he married Karlene Karlson in Fort Madison, Iowa.
Mr. Kurtz was a lifelong resident of LaHarpe. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a self-employed carpenter and enjoyed golfing and fishing. He was a member of the LaHarpe American Legion Post 301 and a 50 year member of the LaHarpe Masonic Lodge #195.
He is survived by his wife, one son, Jeffrey Lynn Kurtz of Burlington, two grandchildren, Krystal and Justin Kurtz, one brother, Kenneth Kurtz of LaHarpe and one sister, Emmalou Melvin of Macomb, Illinois.
He was prececded in death by one son, Timothy Allen Kurtz, one brother Joseph Ronald Kurtz and one sister, Betty Lee Shallenberger.
Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, July 13, 2008 at the LaHarpe United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Wright officiating. Burial with Military Rites will be in the LaHarpe Cemetery. Friends may call after 3:00 P.M. Saturday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe where Masonic Rites will be held at 6:00 P.M. followed by visitation with the family until 8:00 P.M. A memorial fund has been established for the Great River Hospice House, LaHarpe Masonic Lodge #195, or the LaHarpe United Methodist Church. Send a condolence here.
