Estella Mae Scott

 

Estella Mae Scott, age 80 of Stronghurst, Illinois died at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday June 17, 2008 at her home. She was born September 8, 1927 in Macon, Missouri, the daughter of Logan and Mildred Treaster Haynes. On January 14, 1967, she married LaHoyt Scott in Macon. He preceded her in death on March 21, 2006.

Mrs Scott worked at the Sheaffer Pen Company in Fort Madison, Iowa, retiring in 1982. After her retirement, she worked in Stronghurst as a baby sitter and house cleaner. She attended the Stronghurst Christian Church.

Survivors include one daughter - Helen (and Thomas Murphy) Wulgaert of Rock Island, IL., one son - Donald (and Twyla) Via of Macon, Mo., four step sons- Ronald Scott of Burlington, IA., Randy Scott of Muscatine, IA., Donald Scott of Gladstone, IL., Daniel Scott of Port Aransas, TX., 17 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, one sister - Wanda Lusby and one brother - Lloyd Haynes, both of Kansas City, MO. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son- Robert “Bobby’ Via Jr., one step daughter - Laura Sue Weaver, and one brother - Carl Haynes.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday June 21, 2008 in the Stronghurst Christian Church with Rev. Ron Kelly officiating. Burial will be in the Stronghurst Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 unitl 8:00 p.m. Friday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst. A memorial fund has been established for the family. Send a condolence here.
