Rose E. Collins

Mrs. Rose E. Collins, 57, of LaHarpe, Illinois passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at 8:30 A.M. at her home.

She was born February 2, 1951 in Monmouth, Illinois, the daughter of Marion and Rosie Bundy Shaver. On July 21, 1968 she married Claude Collins in Abingdon, Illinois.

She worked at Lamont Limited in Burlington, Iowa for a few years and at the former LaHarpe Hospital. She had served as a Girl Scout Leader and was a member of the LaHarpe Senior Citizens, the LaHarpe Union Church and a past member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband, her mother, Rosie Shaver of Abingdon, two daughters, Betty Peterson of Burlington and Juliana (Karl) Thompson of Lomax, Illinois, one son William (Bobbi) Collins of Carthage, Illinois, eleven grandchildren, Hannah, Hailey, Collin and Caleb Peterson, Shelby, Dugan, Dalton and Daniel Thompson, Brooke, Cleesen and Denise Hathaway, two sisters, Lois Johnson of Monmouth, Illinois and Bessie Ladwig of Abingdon, Illinois, one brother, Raymond Shaver of Anamosa, Iowa and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, one sister, Marian Harms and one brother, Marion Louis Shaver Jr.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, June 7, 2008 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe with Rev. Bruce Goettsche and Rick Goettsche officiating. Burial will be in the LaHarpe Cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Friday. A memorial fund has been established for the LaHarpe Union Church or the MDH Hospice. Send a condolence here.
