Anson B. Coffman

Mr. Anson Byers Coffman, 90, of Surprise, Arizona, formerly of Dallas City, Illinois passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at the Del Web Hospital in Sun City West, Arizona.
He was born November 23, 1917 in Dallas City, the son of George and Ina Byers Coffman. On December 23, 1943 he married Evelyn Graff in Quincy, Illinois. She preceded him in death on May 20, 2001.
Mr. Coffman served in the US Army in World War II. He farmed near Dallas City and was a Rural Mail Carrier for many years. He lived most of his life in Dallas City except for a few years he and his wife lived in Wisconsin. They also spent many winters in Mesa, Arizona. He was a member of the former Dallas City United Methodist Church.
He is survived by two sons, David and Stephen Coffman, both of Surprise, Arizona, 4 grandchildren, Chris, Brian, James and Travis Coffman, 4 great-grandchildren, William, Catie, Julia and Madeline Coffman and one sister Dorothy Scholtz of Grand haven, Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his wife and one sister, Vonnie Donnelly.
A memorial service will be held at 9:00 A.M. Saturday, June 7, 2008 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City. Burial, with Military Rites, will be in the Harris Cemetery near Dallas City. Following the burial, all family and friends are invited to a luncheon to be served at the Dallas City Senior Citizens Center. A memorial fund has been established for the Veteran’s Memorial in Dallas City. Send a condolence here.
