Robert M. Charles

Mr. Robert M. Charles, 70, of Niota, Illinois passed away Thursday, May 1, 2008 at the Fort Madison Community Hospital.

He was born September 8, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Leonard Pearl and Margaret O’Dowd Charles. On June 20, 1998 he married Fermina Dinopol in the Phillipines.

Mr. Charles had served in the US Army and worked as an electrician for the Santa Fe Railroad. He then worked as an electrician at Champion Spark Plug in Burlington for 22 years, retiring in 2002. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fort Madison.

He is survived by his wife, one son, Shawn Charles of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, two daughters, Melissa Bolton of Broken Arrow and Katherine Charles, at home, one grandson, Theodore Bolton, two half brothers, Jim and Daniel Bowen both of Chicago and three half sisters, Debbie Pleckie, Patricia Farano and Mary Stapleton all of Chicago.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Lynn Sue Charles, one brother and his parents.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, May 5, 2008 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dallas City, Illinois with Father Tony Trosley and Father Troy Richmond officiating. Burial will be in the Myers Cemetery near Dallas City. The family will meet with friends from 3 until 5 PM Sunday, with a prayer service at 5 PM, at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City .
