Kenneth Claude Magner
Kenneth Claude Magner, age 78 of Media, Illinois, died at 6:15 P.M. Tuesday April 8, 2008 in the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, Iowa. He was born December 6, 1929 in East Peoria, Illinois, the son of Shad and Zelma Hardy Magner. On August 25, 1951, he married Mable Davis in the Old Bedford Christian Church near Blandinsville, Illinois.
Mr. Magner was a truck driver for the former White & White Grain Company for many years, and served as the Media Township Road Commissioner for 20 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Henderson County Auxiliary Police for many years, and also served as Chief of the Media Station of the M.S.T. Fire Department for several years. He was a severe weather spotter for Henderson County for many years.
Survivors include his wife, two daughters - Vickie (Randy) Lucas of West Burlington, IA., Janet (Terry) Southerland of Stronghurst, three sons - Danny Magner of Media, Steve (Leora) Magner also of Media, David (Linda) Magner of Duncan,SC., twelve grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents who raised him- Charles and Amy Hardy, one daughter - Karen Jean Magner and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday April 11, 2008 in the Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst with Pastor Pam Moore officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Grove Cemetery near Media. Friends may call after 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Banks & Beals, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday.
