Dorothy D. Mynatt

 

Dorothy Dene Mynatt, age 70, of rural Carman, Illinois died at 7:30 A.M. Monday March 24, 2008 at her home. She was born March 17, 1938 in Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of Harvey and Ollie Mae Harris Hill. On November 18, 1956, she married Rex A. Mynatt in Stronghurst.


Dorothy was a beautician all of her adult life. She loved to garden, crochet, play cards, fish, and was a terrific cook. She was often called the “Master Blaster”, because she would help her husband with his explosives business. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. Dorothy was very active in the Carman United Methodist Church, and was president of the United Methodist Women.


Survivors include her husband, two daughters, Linda Teames (and Tony Markey), Carman, IL., Patty (and Mike) Blackwood of Irving, TX., two sons - Rex D. Mynatt (and LuAnna Johnson) of Carman, Avery F. (And Betty) Mynatt of Stronghurst, eight grandchildren - Jessica Mynatt, Jennifer (and Jake) Wenig, Dane Heap, Jason Mynatt, Mark Mynatt, Tyler Teames, Lauren Hart, Brooke Teames, one great grandchild - Hayli Heap, three sisters - her identical twin Doris (and Merle) Coffey of Carman, Lois Platt of Hanna City, IL., Mary Lou Caldwell of Peoria, IL., and one brother - Jerry (and Roseann) Hill of Portlandville, NY. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother - Harley Hill, one sister - Imogene Kemple, and two brothers in law- Robert Platt and Gene Caldwell.


Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday March 27, 2008 in the Carman United Methodist Church with Rev. Gene Turner officiating. Burial will be in the Carman Cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday.
