Terry D. Mershon

Mr. Terry D. Mershon, 59, of LaHarpe, Illinois passed away Monday March 24, 2008 at 7:18 PM at the OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois.

He was born March 30, 1948 in Macomb, Illinois, the son of Dale and Mabel Phillips Mershon.

After graduating from high school in 1966, he was hired upon the initial start-up of Federal Mogul, later known as NTN Bower, where he retired as a maintenance supervisor after 38 ½ years. This was known as his second family.

On January 20, 1967 he married Carolyn Jean Long in LaHarpe, she survives. He and his wife lived in LaHarpe or the surrounding area all their lives. He was baptized in the Ft. Green Church. He especially enjoyed all his grandkids’ sporting events and working at the shop with his son and his sidekick, Newton ( the 2nd son, the dog). He also enjoyed camping, working outside, and family gatherings.

He is survived by his wife, Jean of LaHarpe, one son David (Donna) Mershon of LaHarpe, three daughters, Debbie (Wayne) Corzatt of Dallas City, IL, Diane (Derek) Baker of Burlington, Iowa, Denise (Randy) Trout of LaHarpe, grandchidren, Chris, Craig and Jensen Corzatt, Korey and Kyle Baker, Elyce and Aden Trout, Ryan (Christy) Kienast, and Haylee and Hunter Kienast. Also surviving are one sister, Susie (Jerry) Miller of Carthage, one brother, Larry (Vicki) Mershon of Macomb, 1 aunt and uncle, Dallas and Mary Lou Winters of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father and one nephew, Eddie, Wandtke.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2008 at the LaHarpe Christian Church, LaHarpe, IL with Darren Beachy officiating. Burial will be in the LaHarpe Cemetery. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Friday at the Banks and Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe, where the family will meet with friends from 7:00-8:30p.m. A memorial fund has been established for the Illini West Sports Boosters or Illinois Cancer Care.
