George L. Nixon

Mr. George L. Nixon, 92, of Lomax, Illinois passed away Monday, March 24, 2008 at 6:45 PM at the Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab Center in Stronghurst, Illinois.

He was born December 30, 1915 in Lomax, the son of Fred and Hazel Waterman Nixon.

Mr. Nixon farmed all of his life near Lomax and earlier in life worked at the Lomax Canning Factory.

He is survived by two sisters, Mary Waddell of West Burlington, Iowa and Irene Jones of Burlington, Iowa, several nieces and nephews, one sister-in-law, Martha Hancock of Burlington and one brother-in-law, Bob Halferty of Wyaconda, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, March 28, 2008 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City. Burial will be in the Crane Cemetery near Lomax. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. A memorial fund has been established. Send a condolence here.
