Betty Jean Bright

Betty Jean Bright, age 83 of Burlington, Iowa, died at 3:42 A.M. Wednesday February 27, 2008 in the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, Iowa. She was born March 12, 1924 in Terre Haute, Illinois, the daughter of George Robert and Lillie Miria Strausbaugh Sea. On December 23, 1941, she married Wendell Faye Bright in Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her in death on September 20, 2001.

Betty owned and operated Bri-Seay House Antiques for over thirty years. Prior to that, she worked at the Terre Haute (Illinois) Grade School Cafeteria and the Lomax Canning Factory. She enjoyed collecting antiques, especially pine, walnut and cherry furniture. Betty spent her time restoring antique furniture, gardening, cooking, and enjoying her cabin on the Mississippi River.

Survivors include two daughters - Patricia (and Elliott) Anderson, and Sherry Knutson, both of Burlington, one son - Charles (and Sally) Bright of Burlington, five grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and one sister - Anna Jane Johnson of San Benito, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday March 3, 2008 in the Carman Cemetery with Rev. Gene Turner officiating. Friends may call as they desire after 2:00 P.M. Sunday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst. The family will receive friends from Noon until 1:30 P.M. Monday at Banks & Beals.
