Mable E. Cox

Mable E. Cox, age 79 of rural Lomax, Illinois died at 11:10 P.M. Monday January 21, 2008 in the Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab Center in Stronghurst, Illinois. She was born January 15, 1929 in Carman, Illinois, the daughter of Cyril and Verda Kizer Good. On December 19, 1946, she married Thurman "Dick" Cox in Gladstone, Illinois.

Mrs. Cox was a graduate of Stronghurst High School. She had worked at the former Lomax Canning Factory, Carman Grocery, and was an Avon representative for over 30 years. She was active in the Carman United Methodist Church, where she helped organize the "Kids' Club". She also served as a correspondent for the Henderson County Quill, where she provided the "Carman News" for many years.

Survivors include her husband, one daughter - Dixie (and Jack) Todd of Lomax, Illinois, one son - Eldon Cox of Kansas City, Missouri, five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister - Macy Donaldson and one brother - John D. Good.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday January 25, 2008 in the Carman United Methodist Church with Rev. Gene Turner officiating. Burial will be in the Carman Cemetery. Friends may call after 3:00 P.M. Thursday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday.
