Ronald D. Lankford

Ronald Dean Lankford, age 62 of Smithshire, Illinois died at 6:03 P.M. Sunday January 20, 2008 at his home. He was born March 8, 1945 in Havana, Illinois, the son of Gilbert and Aileen Cooper Lankford. He was first married to Janice Johnson, they later divorced. On January 21, 1978, he married Mala Heikes.

Mr. Lankford worked as a truck driver for Heil Trucking of Prairie City, Illinois, DCM Transport of Galesburg, and Twomey Company of Smithshire. He enjoyed camping, boating and family activities.

Survivors include his wife, his mother and stepfather- Aileen and Baxter Brandon, of Fountain Green, Illinois, two daughters- Lisa (and Tony) Holtschlag of Little York, IL., Laura (and Tom) Stroops of Bushnell, IL., four sons - Chris (and Tracy) Cassiday of Monmouth, IL., Kevin (and Catina) Lankford of Macomb, IL., Robert (and Amy) Cassiday of Madison, WI., Steven Cassiday of Smithshire, seventeen grandchildren, one sister - Donna Fowler of Missouri, one brother - Delbert (and Connie) Lankford of Vermont, IL., several nieces and nephews, and his faithful dog - "Sonny ". He was preceded in death by his father, one grandson - Colin Cassiday, his in-laws - Robert and Helen Heikes, and by one brother in law - Gerry Fowler.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday January 24, 2008 in the Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst with Pastor Dianne Duncan officiating. Burial will be in the Raritan Cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Banks & Beals, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday.
