James W. Lauver

James W. Lauver, age 95 of Galesburg, Illinois, died at 10:00 A.M. Sunday December 30, 2007 in the OSF St. Mary's Medical Center in Galesburg. He was born March 20, 1912 near Raritan, Illinois, the son of Orley W. and Martha Ann McKeown Lauver. On August 31, 1940, he married Ruth Cook in Raritan.

Mr. Lauver was a 1931 graduate of Media High School, Media, Illinois. He was employed at the Prairie Farms Creamery, and later the Pure Milk Association for many years. He the worked for the Intrastate (Centel) Telephone Company for several years, retiring in 1977. He was an active member of the Raritan Reformed Church, where he had served as Deacon, Elder, Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent, and was a member of the church choir male quartet.

Survivors include his wife, one daughter - Adale (and Larry) Finch of Minneapolis, MN., one son - Richard (and Lorna) Lauver of Cleveland, OH., five grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren, and one brother - Robert Lauver of Roseville, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother - Dale Lauver and one great great granddaughter - Georgiann Hicks.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday January 3, 2008 in the Raritan Reformed Church with Rev. James Olsen officiating. Burial will be in the Raritan Cemetery. Friends may call as they desire after 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the church.
