Gear E. "Skeeter" Peterson
Gear E. “ Skeeter” Peterson, age 75 of Stronghurst, Illinois died at 10:15 P.M. Sunday December 23, 2007 in the Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab Center in Stronghurst. He was born July 26, 1932 in Hopper, Illinois, the son of Gear and Mamie Dowell Peterson. On November 3, 1952, he married Lorraine Johnson in Gladstone, Illinois.
Mr Peterson was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was employed since he was a teenager at the former Davison Motor Sales in Stronghurst. He then owned and operated Peterson’s Auto Body in Stronghurst from 1989 until his retirement in 2002. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener, and was a member of the Stronghurst Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, one daughter - Karen (and Rod) Nichols of Stronghurst, five sons - Jeff (and Debbie) Peterson, Quentin (and Kris) Peterson, and Pat (and Janet) Peterson, all of Stronghurst, Kenneth (and Rhonda) Peterson of Biggsville, IL., David (and Patricia) Peterson of Knoxville, IL., 15 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and one sister - Bonnie (and Tony) Utt of Burlington, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, one great grandchild, two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday December 27, 2007 in the Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst with Ron Kelly and Maurice Stribling officiating. Burial will be in the Stronghurst Cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Banks & Beals, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday.
