Donald Lee Overton

Donald Lee Overton, age 76 of rural Stronghurst died at 4:58 A.M. Tuesday November 13, 2007 in the Genesis East Medical Center in Davenport, Iowa. He was born December 20, 1930 in rural Knox County, Illinois, the son of Garland A. and Alean Wise Overton. On February 27, 1954, he married Joanne Carol Doe in Monmouth, Illinois. She preceded him in death on November 29, 2000.

Mr. Overton was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean Conflict. He and his wife farmed in Henderson and Warren counties all of their married life. He also drove a school bus for the former Media-Wever School District for several years.

Survivors include three daughters - Karen (and Roben) Scott of Media, IL., Brenda (and Dee) Holford of Gladstone, IL., Susan (and John) Clough of Griggsville, IL., two sons- Mark Overton of Stronghurst, and Scott Overton of Roseville, IL., four grandchildren - Eric Scott, Jessica Johnson, Tayler Day, Tim Holford, and one sister - Jean (and David) Painter of rural Lomax, IL. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.

Private family graveside services will be held in the Walnut Grove Cemetery near Media, Illinois. There will be no visitation. Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst is in charge of arrangements. Send a condolence here.
