Betty J. Calhoon

Mrs. Betty J. (Wahl) Calhoon, 64, of Lomax, Illinois passed away Monday, November 12, 2007 at 8:15 PM at the Memorial Hospital in Carthage, Illinois.

She was born February 19, 1943 in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Corine Bowman Wahl. She was raised by her mother and step-father, Corine and Orville Stewart.

She grew up and attended school in Burlington. She enjoyed painting, crocheting and collecting Betty Boop memorabilia.

She is survived by one daughter, Ginger Taylor of Lomax, 2 grandchildren, Brittany and Ashley Haynes, a nephew who was raised by Betty, Terry Stewart Jr. of Lomax, one sister, Stella Wahlof New London, Iowa and four brothers, Robert Wahl and Danny Stewart, both of Burlington, Jerry Stewart of Tucson, Arizona and Terry Stewart Sr. of New London, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother and step-father.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, November 16, 2007 at the Harris Cemetery near Dallas City with Rev. Randy Gearhart officiating. The family will meet with friends from 6 - 8 PM Thursday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City. A memorial fund has been established for the American Cancer Society. Send a condolence here.
