Ella Zozelpha "Sally" Black

Mrs. Ella Zozelpha “Sally” Black, 93, of Dallas City, Illinois passed away Monday, October 1, 2007 at 2:40 A.M. at the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center, LaHarpe, Illinois.

She was born August, 19, 1914 in Pontoosuc, Illinois, the daughter of Ralph and Millie Robinson Jones. She married William Edward Jors in !935. He died in 1952. On November 19, 1963, she married Herby “Buck” Black in Nauvoo, Illinois. He died January 10, 1984.

She enjoyed reading and cooking and attended the Pontoosuc Community Church.

She is survived by one son, Jerry (Eleanor) Jors of Palm Desert, California, two daughters, Maxine (Robert) Mason of Fort Myers, Florida and Beverly (Tom) Miller of Dallas City, 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, four stepchildren, Charles Black of Burnside, Illinois, Helen Hester of Key Largo, Florida, John Black of Prairie Grove, Arkansas and Jean Timmerman of Carman, Illinois and two sisters, Pauline Flack of Dallas City and Rosetta Fritz of Pontoosuc. She was preceded in death by her husbands, one daughter, Rosetta Scotty and 4 step-sons, Herby Black Jr., Richard Black, Ronald Black and Loren Black

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, October 4, 2007 at the Pontoosuc Community Church with Rev. Lee Unger and Rev. Paul Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Harris Cemetery near Dallas City. Friends may call after 3:00 PM Wednesday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City where the family will meet with friends from 6 until 8 PM, Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for the Blessing Hospice of Hancock County. Send a condolence here.
