Grace C. Ochsner

Mrs. Grace C. Ochsner, 91, of rural Niota, Illinois, passed away Sunday, September 30, 2007 at her home.

She was born October 30, 1915 in Point Pleasant Township in Warren County, Illinois, the daughter of J.V. and Ethel Lofftus Thompson. On February 5, 1936 she married Clarence K. Ochsner at her parents’ home near Niota. They moved to her present home in 1945. Her husband preceded her in death on September 24, 1992

She served as a 4-H Leader for 5years. She baked and served anniversary and wedding cakes for many years. Grace operated a doll hospital for antique dolls for 40 years. She also made costumes for German and French dolls for customers all over the country. She was a member of the Dallas City United Methodist Church for 60 years.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews including Lee Thompson, Letha Howell, Fred Ochsner, Juanita Jarvis and Robert Ochnser and many great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one nephew, Lynn Thompson and her parents.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at the Myers Cemetery, rural Niota with Tony Newton officiating. At her request, there will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made, in her memory, to the Lomax Ambulance service. Send a condolence here.
