Don Gallahue
E. Don Gallahue, age 85 of LaHarpe, Illinois died at 11:10 A.M. Monday August 20, 2007 in the McDonough District Hospital in Macomb, Illinois. He was born December 27, 1921 in Macomb, the son of Ed and Prudy Belle Ritter Gallahue. He married Mary Scanlan on February 5, 1966 in Terre Haute, IL.
Mr Gallahue was a marine corps veteran of WW II, and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a self employed master carpenter for many years and later was employed by Western Illinois University as a master carpenter, retiring in 1999. He was a member of LaHarpe American Legion Post # 301.
Survivors include his wife, one daughter - Donna (and Don) Huckabey of Macomb, IL., one step daughter - Karen (and Larry) Mynatt of LaHarpe, one step son- Dale (and Dixie) Russell of Magnolia, Texas, 5 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, one great great grandson, and two sisters - Maxine Lauderman and Kathryn Beard, both of Macomb. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother - Max Gallahue.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P. M Thursday August 23, 2007 in the LaHarpe Cemetery with Darren Beachy officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the LaHarpe American Legion. Friends may call after 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe, where the family will be present from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday.
