Gail L. Sutton
Gail L. Sutton, age 90 of Lomax, Illinois died at 4:58 A.M. Wednesday August 15, 2007 in the Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab Center in Stronghurst. He was born January 4, 1917 in Lomax, the son of Harry and Alice Wolfe Sutton. On November 5, 1938, he married Mildred "Topsy" Kemp in Kahoka, Missouri.
Mr. Sutton was an Army Veteran of World War II. He had worked at the Iowa Army Ammunitions Plant in Middletown, Iowa, was a section hand for the Santa Fe Railroad, and had worked for the State of Illinois Highway Department for 4 years. Most recently, he was employed at J.I. Case Company in Burlington for several years, retiring in 1979. He attended the Lomax Christian Church, and was a member of the Carman - Lomax Senior Citizens. He enjoyed gardening, and was a die-hard Cubs fan.
Survivors include his wife, one daughter - Sandra (and Gene) Schertz of Lomax, two sons- Terry (and Judy) Sutton of Gilbert, AZ., James (and Sandi) Sutton of Dallas City, IL., 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters and five brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday August 18, 2007 in the Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City, with Rev. Peggy Stott officiating. Burial will be in the Carman Cemetery, Carman, Illinois. Friends may call after 2:00 P.M. Friday at Banks & Beals in Dallas City, where the family will be present from 6:00 until 7:30 P.M. Friday.
