Robert D. "Bob" Andrew 
Mr. Robert Dean “Bob” Andrew, 73, of Dallas City, Illinois, died at 12:59 P.M. Monday, August 13, 2007 at the Fort Madison Community Hospital. He was born July 2, 1934 in Ursa, Illinois, the son of Otto Gilbert and Hazel Poulter Andrew. He married Annetta Horan in 1960.
Mr. Andrew was a 1952 graduate of the Dallas City High School where he enjoyed playing softball and basketball and was vice president of his graduating class. He was a air force veteran of the Korean War. He commercial fished with his father and later attended barber school in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and then worked as a barber in Burlington, Iowa for many years. He also worked in construction, was employed at IAAP and for several years worked for the City of West Burlington Water Department, retiring in 1998. He enjoyed pole and line fishing, mushrooming and finding and collecting bottles and rocks. Robert will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, son and brother. His loving spirit will be in our hearts forever. His overwhelming kindness has touched each one who knew him.
Survivors include one daughter, Deana Koehler (Chris), two grandsons, Dane and Justin all of Tempe, Arizona, his mother Hazel Andrew of Dallas City, two sisters, Darlene Booton of Stronghurst, Illinois and Sherrill Gilpin of Dallas City and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Phyllis Black.
Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, August 16, 2007 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City with Rev. Larry Menschel officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Dallas City American Legion. Burial will be in the New Providence Cemetery near Ursa, Illinois. Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. Thursday until time of services at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for the Gilpin Home in Dallas City. Send a condolence here.
