Robert S. DeHaven

Mr. Robert S. DeHaven, 83, of Blandinsville, Illinois passed away Monday, July 2, 2007 at his home.

He was born April 24, 1924 in Burnside, IL., the son of Henry and Ella Salisbury DeHaven. On June 21, 1947 he married Christine Hasten in Dallas City, Illinois. She preceded him in death on June 4, 1997.

Mr. DeHaven was an army veteran of World War II. He had managed the Granite Foundry in Tennessee, IL. for many years, and also farmed. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and was a member of the Blandinsville American Legion, Odd Fellows Lodge, and the Old Bedford Christian Church.

Survivors include one son - Dennis (and Diana) DeHaven of Blandinsville, IL., one daughter - Debbie (Steve) Foster of Albany, IL., 4 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters - Bessie McConnell of Burlington, IA., and Maxine Beckwith of Peoria, IL. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by one son - John H. DeHaven, one daughter in infancy- Cathy DeHaven, one brother - Newell DeHaven and his son-in-law, Lloyd Thompson Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday July 6, 2007 in the Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe. Burial with military rites will be in the McConnell Cemetery near Fountain Green. Friends may call after 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Banks & Beals, where the family will be present from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday. Memorials have been established for the Old Bedford Christian Church or the Blandinsville-Hire Rescue Squad. Send a condolence here.
