Velna L. Miller

Velna L. Miller age 80 of Dallas City, Illinois died at 8:40 P.M. Thursday June 28, 2007 at the Gilpin Home in Dallas City. She was born July 24, 1926 in Lomax, IL., the daughter of Lee and Ada Cartwright Porter. On March 26, 1956, she married Charles George Miller in Nauvoo, Illinois. He preceded her in death on April 24, 2004.

Mrs. Miller had worked at the Sheaffer Pen Company in Fort Madison, the State Central Bank of Fort Madison, and the Bank of Dallas City. She was a member of the Dallas City United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one sister-in-law, Helen Hendricks of Wichita, KS., 2 nephews, one niece, and locally her special friends- Martin and Traci Sparrow of Dallas City. She was preceded in death by her husband and one brother - Ursal Porter.

Visitation will be from 9:30 until 10:30 A.M. Monday July 2, 2007 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday at the Harris Cemetery near Dallas City with Rev. Tony Trosley officiating. Memorials have been established for Blessing Hospice of Hancock County and The Gilpin Home of Dallas City.
