Alfred E. Jones

Mr. Alfred E. Jones, 78, of Dallas City, Illinois passed away Monday, June 25, 2007 at 3:35 P.M. at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.

He was born September 1, 1928 in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of Henry “Pat” and Elsie Mae Stone Jones. On January 20, 1951 he married Dolores Ann Hoenig in Fort Madison.

Mr. Jones served in the US Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict.
He worked for Smith Motors and Lange Buick, both in Fort Madison and for Thomas Motors in Burlington. He also worked as a clerk at Chanen’s Auto Parts Store in Fort Madison. He then worked in purchasing, at Freuhauf Co. from 1967until retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Dallas City American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Dolores, 3 daughters, Lisa (Kevin) Siemens of Niota, Illinois, Jocelyn (Tim) Johnson of Fountain Green, Illinois and Andrea (Tom) Thomas of Fort Madison, 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 1 brother, Charles Jones of Moline, Illinois, 1 sister, Erla Mae Rhodes of Washington, Illinois, 1 aunt, Jean Stone of Stronghurst, Illinois and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, William H. Jones.

Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 30. 2007 at Banks & Beals Home in Dallas City with Rev. Larry Menschel officiating. Burial, with Military Rites, will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Fort Madison. Friends may call after 4:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M.
