David B. Mohr

Mr. David B. “Uncle Davey” Mohr, 73, of rural Dallas City, Illinois passed away Sunday, June 24, 2007 at 1:10 A.M. at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.

He was born July 8, 1933 in Burlington, Iowa, the son of Lloyd B. and Ruth M. Jones Mohr. On June 23, 1974 he married Shirley Stout in LaHarpe, Illinois. She preceded him in death on October 8, 1997.

He worked for the Iowa Army Ammunitions Plant for 33 years, retiring in 1998. He was a member of the Midwest Old Threshers Association, the Southeast Iowa Antique Car Club and the Illinois Bluegrass Association. For 20 years, he hosted Uncle Daves’ Country Classics and Bluegrass Melodies on WCAZ radio station. He was also a member of the Faith Family Church of Keokuk, Iowa.

He is survived by 2 brothers, Lewis L. Mohr of rural Dallas City and John H. Mohr of rural Burnside, Illinois, 2 nieces, 2 nephews and 1 great-niece.

He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 29, 2007 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City with Rev. Jay Zetterlund officiating. Burial will be in the Dallas City Cemetery. Friends may call after 3:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday.
