Edna Staley

Edna E. Staley, age 87 of Stronghurst, Illinois died at 11:55 A.M. Friday June 1, 2007 in the Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab Center in Stronghurst. She was born March 27, 1920 in Henderson County, the daughter of Melvin and Viola Mae Hendrickson Schroeder. On November 7, 1943, she married Ralph Staley in Macomb, Illinois. He preceded her in death on November 13, 1982.

Mrs Staley was a lifelong resident of Stronghurst. She was a 1938 graduate of Stronghurst High School, and was employed for 18 years at I.R.C. Company in Burlington. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, and restoring antique furniture. She was an active member of the Stronghurst Christian Church and the womens’ organizations of the church.

Survivors include 2 daughters- Barbara (and Gary) Meyer of Rozetta, IL. Sandra (and Marvin) Ford of McHenry, IL., 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, one sister - Viola (and Clarence) McGuire of Carrollton, IL., and one brother - Paul (and Barbara) Schroeder of Stronghurst, IL. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers- Edward and Eugene Schroeder, and one sister- Gwendolyn Schroeder.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Wednesday June 6, 2007 in the Stronghurst Christian Church with Pastor Maurice Stribling and Pastor Ron Kelly officiating. Burial will be in the Stronghurst Cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M.
