Betty Latherow

Mrs. Betty Hungate Latherow, 84, of LaHarpe, Illinois passed away Friday, May 4, 2007 at 8:10 A.M. at her home.

She was born August 11, 1922 near Blandinsville, Illinois, the daughter of William and Bernice Lenix Hungate. On June 26, 1940 she married Clifford B. Latherow. He preceded her in death on October 25, 1994.

She and her husband lived near Fountain Green, Illinois for many years before moving to LaHarpe in 1983. She was a member of the Hancock County Republican Women where she served on the Executive Board and was past President. She was supportive of Western Illinois University and their athletic programs. She was a member of numerous bridge and social clubs and was also a member, Trustee and past Deacon of the Fountain Green Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed gardening and attending ball games.

Surviving are one daughter, Linda (David) Wilson of Long Beach, Indiana, two sons, Don (Peggy) Latherow of Carthage, Illinois and Jerry (Kerstin) Latherow of Chicago, Illinois, 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren..

She was preceded in death by her husband, one grandson, Dannen Latherow and one brother, William Hungate.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe with Rev. Bruce Goettsche officiating. Burial will be in the LaHarpe Cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M. Monday. A memorial fund has been established for the MDH Hospice, Fountain Green Presbyterian Church or the University of Chicago Cancer Research Fund. Send a condolence here.
