Herman G. Link
Mr. Herman G. Link, 88, of LaHarpe, Illinois passed away Monday, April 30, 2007 at 6:14 A.M. at the Roseville Country Manor Nursing Home in Roseville, Illinois.
He was born October 20, 1918 in Disco, Illinois, the son of Sidney Chester and Sophrona (McCord) Link.
Mr. Link was a Veteran of World War II, having served in the Army in the Pacific Theater. He was held by the Japanese as a prisoner of war for 39 months and was a survivor of the Bataan Death March. He worked as a farm hand for many years and also worked at IAAP and most recently for A.D.M. He was a lifetime member of the LaHarpe American Legion Post 301.
He is survived by four sons, George Link of Carthage, Illinois, Phillip Link of LaHarpe, William Link of Burlington, Iowa and James Link of Carthage, Illinois, three daughters, Judy Taylor and Diane Wood both of Quincy and Joanne Todd of Phoenix, Arizona, 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two sisters, including his twin, Kathrine Glisan of Denmark, Iowa, and Helen Ruth White of Carlinville, Illinois and one brother, Eldon Link of Quincy, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Marian Link, brothers; John E. Link, Kenneth Link and one brother in infancy and sisters; Lois Idel Kreps, Lola Cooper and one sister in infancy and his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, May 4, 2007 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe with Tony Newton officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the LaHarpe Cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M. Thursday.
