Ruth B. Hensley

Mrs. Ruth Bernice Hensley, 88, of LaHarpe, Illinois passed away Friday, April 20, 2007 at 12:05 P.M. at the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center.

She was born June 18, 1918 in Henderson, Illinois, the daughter of Benjamin and Marie Rintamaki Armstrong. On April 11, 1936 she married Max Clayton Hensley in Canton, Illinois. He preceded her in death on May 11, 1974.

Ruth graduated from LaHarpe High School in 1935. She and her husband farmed in several locations in the LaHarpe area. She was a member of the LaHarpe Christian Church and the Happy Helpers Club. She was also a wonderful seamstress and enjoyed knitting. She loved her family and enjoyed traveling around the country and abroad.

She is survived by 3 daughters, Janet McKee of LaHarpe, Sandra King of Indianola, Iowa and Joyce (John) O’Connor of Omaha, Nebraska, 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, 1 brother, Edward Armstrong of Daly City, California and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, 4 sisters and 3 brothers.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, April 23, 2007 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe with Darren Beachy officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at Glade City Cemetery in Blandinsville, Illinois. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the LaHarpe Public Library or to Blessing Hospice of Hancock County. Send a condolence here.
