Dorothy St. Ores

Mrs. Dorothy Mae St.Ores, 84, of Dallas City, Illinois, passed away Monday, April 9, 2007 at 1:35 A.M. at the Fort Madison Community Hospital, Fort Madison, Iowa.
She was born December 11, 1922 north of Blandinsville, Illinois the daughter of W.H. “Dick” & Sara Amanda Jones Hardisty. On December 12, 1941, she married Fred St. Ores in Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her in death on September 7, 2000.
Dorothy attended Spiker school north of Blandinsville, completing the eighth grade. She worked at various businesses and factories including the Lomax Canning Factory, Sheaffer Pen Co., Sylvania, Traveler’s Inn, A&P Grocery, Tastee Corner and D&P Upholstery Shop. Dorothy was an active member of the Pontoosuc Community Church and Women’s group, Dallas City Senior Citizens, Hancock County HEA and Dallas City American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed her family, church family, working in her yard and garden, feeding the birds and playing cards and marbles with her family and many friends.
She is survived by 1 son, Stan (Jean) St. Ores of Colusa, Illinois, 1 daughter, Pat (Ron) Briscoe of Dallas City, 9 grandchildren, Todd (Kathy) St. Ores, Cindy (Rob) Sederlin, Lynnette (Scott) Romine, Robin (Gene) Sorey, Eric (Rose) Dunn, Ron T. (Dawn) Briscoe, Bryan (Kelli) Dunn, Amanda (Dusty) Grotts, and Ronda (Larry) Post, 23 great-grandchildren, Brennah, Sarah, Sam & Bryce St. Ores, Jeff & Jordan Sederlin, Rachel, Jessica, Danielle and Luke Romine, Gaven and Garin Sorey, Katie Craley, Meghan and Ian Briscoe, Macki and Delayni Dameron, Wes and Taylor Dunn, Tyler Barnes, Kelsey and Sydney Grotts and Faith Post. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Erwin & Henry Hardisty and 1 sister, Elizabeth Shaw.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 12, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City, with Pastor Paul Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Harris Cemetery near Dallas City. Friends may call after 3:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will meet with friends from 6-8 PM. A memorial fund has been established for the Pontoosuc Community Church, Dallas City Senior Citizens and the Lee County Hospice. Send a condolence here.
