Mildred P. Ford
Mildred P. Ford, age 92, of Stronghurst, Illinois, formerly of Carman, died at 1:20 A.M. Sunday April 8, 2007 in the Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab Center in Stronghurst. She was born July 20, 1914 near Carman, the daughter of David and Eva Hulett Pendry. On February 23, 1934, she married Albert John Ford. He preceded her in death on December 1, 2003.
Mrs. Ford worked for many years in the Catalogue Department of Montgomery Ward Department Store in Burlington, Iowa. Later she worked as a teacher’s aid and cook for the Stronghurst School System for many years. She was also an Avon dealer for many years. She was a member of the former Carman Rebekah Lodge, and was a current member of the Carman United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years.
Survivors include one son- Tom (and Janice) Ford of Stronghurst, one daughter - Pat Wood of Edwardsville, IL., 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, 2 sons- Lanny Ross Ford, John David Ford, one daughter- Mary Catherine Ford, 2 brothers- David and Marion Pendry, and 2 sisters- Cleo Denny and Dorothy Goff.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday April 13, 2007 in the Carman United Methodist Church with Rev. Gene Turner officiating. Burial will follow in the Carman Cemetery. No Visitation is planned. A memorial fund has been established for the Carman United Methodist Church. Banks & Beals Funeral Home of Stronghurst is assisting the family with arrangements.
