Jacob D. Markey

Mr. Jacob Daniel Markey, 18, of LaHarpe, Illinois passed away Sunday, April 1, 2007 following a one vehicle accident near LaHarpe.

He was born May 6, 1988 in Carthage the son of Richard & Stacey Wilcox Markey.

He was a 2006 graduate of LaHarpe High School, where he was captain of the football team. He currently attended Southeastern Community college, in Burlington, Iowa, where he was majoring in agriculture. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved working at the sale barn in Carthage, Illinois with his dad.

He is survived by his father and step-mother, Richard Markey & Judy Shores of Burnside, Illinois, his mother and step-father, Stacey & Bill Lee of LaHarpe, Illinois, 1 brother, Cole Lee, at home, 1 step-brother, Michael Shores of Pekin, Illinois, 1 step-sister, Shanda Shores of Michigan,  his grandparents, Carol Wilcox of Lomax, Berl Wilcox of Wapello, Iowa, Pat Shores of Carthage, Illinois and his great-grandmother, Ila Arnold of Lomax, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bob & Dorothy Markey, and an uncle, Daniel Markey.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday April 5, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at the LaHarpe Christian Church with Pastor Bill Myers officiating. Burial will be in the LaHarpe Cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the LaHarpe Christian Church, where the family will meet with friends from 6 -8 PM Wednesday. A memorial fund has been established.
