Doris Yvonne Spiker
Doris Yvonne Spiker, age 69 of Lomax, Illinois died at 6:54 A.M. Saturday March 24, 2007 in the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, Iowa. She was bor
n December 4, 1937 in Edina, Missouri, the daughter of William and Rosemary Aucutt McKinney. She was married to O.D. Carpenter. Later on September 22, 1962, she married Donald Spiker in Terre Haute, Illinois. He preceded her in death on December 22, 1984.
Doris lived most of her adult life in the Lomax area. She was an avid collector of teddy bears, loved dogs, fishing, planting flowers, and being outside. She was a volunteer for the Lomax Food Pantry, and a member of the Lomax Nazarene Church.
Survivors include one daughter - Shelly (and Brad) Hamilton of Burlington, IA., 2 sons- Robert (and Amanda) Carpenter of Stronghurst, Jason (and Wendy) Spiker of Stronghurst, 8 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald, one sister - Oloise “Heavy” Buckholz, and by her dear friend of the last several years- Kenneth Hudson who died June 16, 2006.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday March 27, 2007 in the Lomax Nazarene Church with Rev. John Bremer officiating. Burial will be in Crane Cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 P.M. Monday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst, where the family will be present from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday.
