Hazel L. Lund

Mrs. Hazel L. Lund, 93, of LaHarpe, Illinois, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2007 at 8:25 A.M. at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, Iowa.

She was born November 2, 1913 near Raritan, Illinois, the daughter of Carl J. and Helga Alida Reed Johnson. On November 18, 1933 she married Charles “Buster” Lund in Macomb, Illinois. He preceded her in death on December 27, 1978.

She and her husband lived and farmed for many years near Disco, Illinois. She moved to LaHarpe in 1980. She was a member of the D.E. Club, the LaHarpe Senior Citizens and the LaHarpe Union Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Charlene (Homer) Quigle of LaHarpe, two grandchildren, Jeffrey Quigle of West Des Moines, Iowa and Candy Kapischke of McKinney, Texas, four great-grandchildren, Christopher and Kyle Kapischke and Abby and Claire Quigle, one sister, Margaret Cratsenberg of LaHarpe and one cousin, Lee Carlson of Stronghurst, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters, Clarice Eckhardt and Dorothy Bowen and one brother, Kenneth Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, March 1, 2007 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe with Rev. Bruce Goettsche and Pastor Rick Goettsche officiating. Burial will be in the LaHarpe Cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. The family will meet with friends Thursday from 9:30 A.M. until time of services. A memorial fund has been established for the LaHarpe Union Church, LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center and the LaHarpe Senior Citizens. Send a condolence here.
