Loretta M. Wibbell

Mrs. Loretta M. Wibbell, 68, of Dallas City, Illinois passed away Sunday, February 18, 2007 at 8:18 A.M. at the Fort Madison Community Hospital.

She was born September 6, 1938 in Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of Hubert and Bernadine Heinz Dowell. From the age of 5 weeks old, she was raised by her grandparents, Ollie and Kirby Dowell in Alexis, Illinois. On October 11, 1957 she married John O. Wibbell in Dallas City.

She attended school in Alexis and worked for Champion Spark Plug in Burlington for 20 years. She was a member of the U.A.W. Local 1237, the First Christian Church of Dallas City and the C.W.F. at her church. She loved watching clouds and sunsets.

She is survived by her husband, two sons, John A. (Laurey) Wibbell and Ricky L. (Andrea) Wibbell all of Dallas City, four grandsons, John, Lee, J. Anthony and Christopher Wibbell, one brother, Richard L. Dowell of Monmouth, Illinois, three step-brothers, Mike Clark of Lakewood, California, Pat Clark of Decatur, Illinois and Bill Clark of Oquawka, Illinois, two nieces, Diana (Chad) Allen and Dana (John) Hall, two great-nieces, Victoria and Olivia Hall and two great-nephews, Parker and Mitchell Allen. She was preceded in death by her step-sister, Sharon Gawthrop and her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 22, 2007 at the First Christian Church in Dallas City with Rev. Doug Clark and Brent Sparrow officiating. Following the services, cremation rites will be accorded and burial, at a later date, will be at the Harris Cemetery near Dallas City. Friends may call after 3:00 P.M. Wednesday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday.
