H. Opal Coffey

Mrs. H. Opal Coffey, 87, of LaHarpe, Illinois passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at 8:40 P.M. at the Memorial Hospital in Carthage, Illinois.

She was born November 21, 1919 in Greensburg, Kentucky, the daughter of Alvie and Altha Davis Judd. On November 23, 1946 she married William V. Coffey in Greensburg. He preceded her in death on August 11, 2000.

Opal and her husband moved to Illinois in 1949 and to LaHarpe in 1960. She worked as a cook at a restaurant in Raritan, Illinois, did housework and took care of several yards in the LaHarpe community. She enjoyed attending the Senior Center, gardening, cooking, crocheting, knitting and making quilts. She was a member of the Raritan Reformed Church and also attended the Webster Community Church, Webster, Illinois.

She is survived by three sisters, Ella Mae Lobb, Vera Arentt and Maurien Whitlow, five brothers, Raymond, Ivan, Earl, Hulen and Curtis Judd all of the Greensburg, Kentucky area and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one sister, two brothers and her parents.

Friends may call at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe on Thursday, February 8, 2007 from 2:00 until 8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 10th at the Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg, Kentucky with Rev. James Olsen officiating. Burial will be in the Cosby Cemetery, Hardyville, Kentucky. Visitation will be held Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until time of services, at the Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home.
