Harriett J. Rich
Mrs. Harriett J. Rich, 76, of LaHarpe, Illinois passed away Thursday, January 25, 2007 at 10:52 A.M. at the Apostolic Christian Skylines Retirement Center in Peoria, Illinois.
She was born January 28, 1930 in Blandinsville, Illinois, the daughter of Glenn and Bertha (White) Metcalf. On August 29, 1948 she married Jim Rich in Blandinsville. He preceded her in death on May 23, 2003.
She and her husband farmed all of their lives in the La Crosse and Fountain, Illinois area. She was a devoted mother and could always be found on the sidelines, bleachers, or in the audience enjoying the activities of her children. She was a 4-H Leader, Sunday School teacher and piano accompanist. A farm wife, she managed the yard and garden to the admiration of her family and friends. She loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed feeding birds. Her fried chicken was the best in the county and it was the first to disappear at family gatherings.
Harriett is survived by one son, James (Paula) Rich of Galesburg, Illinois, one daughter, Carla (Steve) Montez of Peoria, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one sister, Leona Adams and her parents.
Services will be held at 10: 00 A.M. Monday, January 29, 2007 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe with Darren Beachy and Matt Feucht officiating. Burial will be in the LaHarpe Cemetery. The family will meet with friends Sunday from 2:30 until 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
