Mary Jean Webster
Mrs. Mary Jean (Scott) Webster, 83, of Lomax, Illinois passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at 2:20 A.M. at the Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab in Stronghurst, Illinois.
She was born December 9, 1923 in Lomax, Illinois, the daughter of Walter H. & Grace C. Nixon Scott. On June 30, 1943 she married Kenneth M. Webster in Galesburg, Illinois. He preceded her in death on November 21, 1999.
She was a graduate of the Lomax High School. In the early 40's, she worked at Sheaffer Pen in Fort Madison, helping with the war effort, She was active helping her husband on the farm near Lomax. For several years, she served on the voting board and as an Election Judge. She enjoyed square dancing, was a member of the Lomax-Carman Senior Citizens and the Lomax Christian Church.
She is survived by 1 daughter, Beverly Jean (Bill) Eddington of Colchester, Illinois, 2 sons, Gregory A.(Claudia) Webster and Glen A. Webster both of Lomax, 1 brother, Dale Scott of Fort Madison, Iowa, 1 sister, Marjorie Workman of Burlington, Iowa, 1 sister-in-law, Mildred Klossing of Galesburg, Illinois, 8 grandchildren, 1 special grandson, 9 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by, 2 sisters, Helen, in infancy and Dorothy Wilson, and 1 brother, Vance Scott.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 6, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. at the Lomax Christian Church with Rev. Peggy Stott officiating. Burial will be in the Crane Cemetery near Lomax. Friends may call after 3:00 P.M. Friday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City, where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M.. A memorial fund has been established for the Lomax-Carman Senior Citizens, Lomax Christian Church, and the Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab Center. Send a condolence here.
