Clarence Hawk

Clarence  Junior  Hawk, age 79 of rural Stronghurst, Illinois died at 9:20 A.M. Monday January 1, 2007 in the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, Iowa.  He was born June 3, 1927 near Roseville, Illinois, the son of Clarence and Gertrude Ross Hawk.  On February 15, 1953, he married Margaret “Betty” Flannigan in Mulberry Grove, Illinois..........................................

Mr. Hawk was a 1945 graduate of Roseville High School.  He farmed near Roseville from 1945 till 1951, when he entered the United States Army, and served during the Korean Conflict.  Following the war, he returned to the Roseville area where he farmed until 1959, when he moved to Stronghurst and continued farming there until his retirement in 1983.  He was an avid hunter, and enjoyed woodworking.

Survivors include his wife, Betty, three sons- Larry (and Kathy) Hawk of Chaska, MN., Tony Hawk of Gladstone, IL., Jim (and Anita) Hawk of Stronghurst, IL., two daughters- Linda Oliver of Burlington, IA., Jane (and Ken) Morris of Stronghurst, 18 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and three brothers- Elmer (and Mary Beth) Hawk and Marvin (and Diane) Hawk, both of Roseville, IL., and Bill (and Sue) Hawk of Monmouth, IL.  He was preceded in death by an infant sister- Goldie Irene Hawk.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday January 5, 2007 in the Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst with Rev. Gene Turner officiating.  Burial with military rites will be in the Stronghurst Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home after 3:00 P.M. Thursday, where the family will be present from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M. Thursday.  A memorial fund has been established for the American Lung Association. Send a condolence here.
